About The Glow System
Hello and welcome!
My name is Emma and I am the Host of the Glow System. The ‘Host’ in terms of Dissociative identity disorder, refers to the most prominent personality state. I am a stay at home mum/ Freelance writer from outer London. I live with my wife, our bouncy toddler and my step-son in our tiny maisonette.
I’ve had an unconventional upbringing as a young carer for my Great grandmother, sharing the responsibility with my own mum. My spiral into the depths of my mental illness happened soon after she passed away when I was 16 years old. Since then I have spent much of my adult life navigating the mental health system within the National Health Service (NHS).
I live with Dissociative Identity Disorder which stems from trauma in childhood. This blog aims to give an insight into what is like to live with complex mental illness, provide educational material about Dissociative disorders and reduce stigma by giving open and honest accounts on the effects of mental health issues, both on the individual and their loved ones.
We want to share a message of hope that you can heal and move on from the past, no matter how painful. You can live a happy and fulfilling life despite the damaging impact of trauma. There is light to be found in the darkness, you are not alone.
